U.S. Naval Railway Guns: Personnel
Rear Admiral Charles P. Plunkett, USN, commanded the U.S. Naval Railway Battery. Under his command, five separate and independent units operated. Units 1 and 2 served with the French Army. Units 3,4, and 5 operated with the U.S. Army at Verdun, France. Unit 2 also had duty at Meuse-Argonne but was later returned to the French.
