1943: June 2: Sinking of German U-boat, U-521
On June 2, 1943, German (Type IXC) U-boat, U-521, was sunk in the North Atlantic, north-east of Norfolk by depth charges from USS PC-565. The German submarine sank four Allied vessels during World War II. Shown is the only survivor, the U-boat's Captain, Lieutenant Commander Klaus Heinz Bargsten.
