Gabbiano, Italian Corvette, 1943-43

The lead ship of her corvette class, Gabbiano, was built at Cerusa, Italy, and was completed on June 23, 1942.   Productive in early 1943, she engaged Royal Navy Motor Torpedo Boats at Marettimo and helped to sink Royal Navy S-class submarine HMS Sahib on April 24, 1943 off Capo di Milazzo.   She surrendered to the Allies at Taranato, Italy, that September.
