USN 708653: Ten Years of the WAVY Blue, July 1952

USN 708653: Ten Years of the WAVY Blue, July 1952. Sightseeing. Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland, is but a short distance from the Bainbridge Training Center in Maryland. WAVE Recruits are allowed to visit the nearby cities after the early part of their training period is over. Such historical places as this famous fort, where Francis Scott Key gazed on the sight which prompted him to write of our “Star Spangled Banner,” is one of the many exciting locations accessible to the WAVES during “Liberty” or “Leave” periods. At times, they are allowed to visit the nation’s Capitol at Washington, D.C. Photograph released July 24, 1952. Official U.S. Navy photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.
