LC-Lot 8936-1:  USS Maine (1895-98), 1910.  Raising Maine’s wreck in Havana Harbor, Cuba, December 28, 1910.  Her mast is shown along with cylinders “F” and “H” as the cofferdam is being built.  Maine exploded on February 15, 1898, and was one of the causes for the United States to enter war with Spain, Spanish-American War, April-August 1898.  Transfer from the War Department, Washington.
