330-PS-9975:  USS Patrick Henry (SSBN-599), April 1960.   USS Patrick Henry (SSBN 599), the Navy’s second fleet ballistic missile submarine, will be commissioned on 9 April 1960 at Groton, Connecticut.  The nuclear powered submarine, built by Electric Boat Company of Groton, is 380 feet long and displaces 5,400 tons.  The Patrick Henry, like her sister ship, USS George Washington, will be capable of firing Polaris Fleet Ballistic Missiles from beneath the surface of the ocean over ranges of more than 1,200 miles.
