26-G-2003:   Operation Avalanche, September 1943.  End of the Bridge.  First photographs of an LST (landing Ship, Tanks – USS LST 382) shows her massive doors wide open.   Over this ramp, rolled the tanks and heavy materiel that pushed the Nazis in from the beach at Paestum, south of Salerno, after the Navy and Coast Guard landed the Army.
