208-AAN-Brest-36356:   Invasion of Southern France, Brest, August-September 1944.  Russian Joins Fight Against Nazis in Brittany.  A Russian who escaped a Nazi labor battalion in Brittany wears crossed cartridge belts and carries hand grenades as he talks with U.S. soldiers and members of the French Forces of the Interior.  Russian soldiers, captured during the enemy drive on Moscow in 1942, broke out of German labor camps and joined the French resisters when U.S. troops closed in on Brest, the beleaguered port on the trip of Brittany Peninsula.   Originally a U.S. Army Signal Corps photograph:  ETO-HQ-44-133441-11, possibly August 1944.   Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.  (2015/3/17).
