Kept afloat by life jackets and rafts, survivors of three torpedoed U.S. transports are picked up by landing barges and boats from other U.S. ships lying off Fedala. The transports were sent to the bottom by many enemy submarines during the operations directed at Casablanca, about 15 miles south Fedala, during the forepart of November 1942 (Operation Torch).
