80-G-44452: Aleutian Island Campaign, June 1942-August 1943.    Mine in Alaskan waters blew stern off USS Abner Read  (DD 526). She was brought to Puget Sound Navy Yard, Bremerton, Washington, for repairs.   Temporary repairs were made in the North, so she could be towed to the Navy Yard.   In this picture, she is almost ready to be fitted together.  Photograph released 11 January 1944.  Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.  (2014/6/5).
