LC-Lot-803-15:  Aleutian Islands Campaign, June 1942 - August 1943.  Battle of Attu, May 11-29, 1943.  Grim anywhere, war has an added starkness in the bleak wilds of the Aleutians.  Upon the living falls not only the sorrowful burden of mourning the dead, but the harrowing task of burying them.
