80-G-344571:  Allied Prisoners of War, 1945.  Major Gregory “Pappy” Boyington, USMC, who was reported killed in China and was held as a Prisoner of War by the Japanese and complained of severe beatings with baseball bats and slugging on various occasions.   Boyington later received the Medal of Honor for his aviation achievements prior to be taken prisoner.  Photograph release September 24, 1945.
