80-G-495671:   Allied Prisoners of War, Japan, 1945.   This United States Flag, held by grinning Allied Prisoners of War of the Japanese, was made from scraps of parachutes dropped by U.S. Navy and Army planes in mercy flights over the camps in the Nagasaki area of Japan.   The fliers dropped food, clothing and medical supplies to the prisoners who were rescued 13 September by mercy squads of the U.S. Navy.   Photograph released October 1, 1945.   Official U.S. Navy photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.  (2014/05/29).    The original is a small photograph.
