80-G-270668:    Battle off Samar, Japanese Kamikaze, October 25, 1944.    A near miss by a Japanese “Zero” on USS Petrof Bay (CVE-80) off Leyte Gulf, as seen from USS Suwannee (CVE-27).  Bomb is hitting the water.   Petrof Bay served with Task Group 77.4.1 “Taffy 1” during the battle.    Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.   (2014/4/24).
