80-CF-113-9-1:  Bougainville Campaign, November 1943-August 1945.   USS President Jackson (APA-18) landing at Bougainville, November 8th, 1943.   On the beach were found Japanese huts as these in which the enemy existed in rather primitive style.  Many huts housed machine gun nests.  Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.  (2016/09/13).
