80-G-216094: Guadalcanal Island, Solomon Islands.  Bow and arrow is used by Solomon Island natives for fishing.  Note old towel used as loin cloth.  These fellows speak good English, are friendly and have saved many American pilot’s lives.  They fed and cared for injured pilots and took many a Navy flier through Japanese lines to safety during the Battle of Guadalcanal.  Photograph released February 6, 1944.
