Description: The daughter of a naval aviator, Captain Jane Skiles O’Dea spent twenty-five years in the Navy, receiving her wings of gold in April 1974. Among the first women to report to Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, Florida, for flight training, she logged over 3,000 flight hours, many of them in versions of the C-130 Hercules. During her flying days she used this helmet adorned with the colorful flowers that were a symbol of the era during which she trained as a naval aviator.
