Description: With the wreckage of the kamikazes aircraft that struck the ship strewn across the flight deck, sailors on board Essex (CV 9) rush to extinguish flames in the aftermath of the hit on November 25, 1944. Unlike some carriers hit by kamikazes, Essex required only minor repairs and was back in action the following month.
