Quarterdeck

quarterdeck

As aboard an actual warship, the Quarterdeck of the Museum is the reception area for visitors. It houses a signature sculpture titled the "Spirit of Naval Aviation," which honors five eras in Naval Aviation history. Positioned above, five aircraft represent Naval Aviation in its earliest days, World War II, Korea, Vietnam and modern combat. A fleet of finely crafted models illustrate the evolution of U.S. aircraft carriers, and training cockpits in the colors of the world-famous Blue Angels give visitors the opportunity to climb behind the controls of high-performance jets before passing into our main exhibit space.
