A retired manufacturing engineer with an enduring interest in World War I aviation, Mr. Raymond Morrissette graciously donated his collection of models of Great War aircraft to coincide with the opening of the Museum’s World War I exhibit. All are scratch built and each represents a minimum of 350 hours of work, the amazing detail apparent in the cockpit, where controls actually operate ailerons just as they did on the actual airplanes. The result is an assembly of aircraft, composed of a vast array of types (including the Taube 4C, Albatros DVa, Spad A2, Caudron G.3, Macchi M.5, and many others), that capture the enduring story of the first war in which the airplane was widely employed.
