Caption:
A replica of a bunker on a Pacific island is a backdrop for the Museum's collection of Japanese uniforms, equipment, and weaponry. Included are a Japanese flag carried into battle, with writing consisting of messages from family members and friends; a Type 99 Arisaka bolt-action rifle taken from a Japanese soldier on Peleliu; a Type 99 light machine gun; and a Senninbar, or "Thousand Stitch Belt," a common memento given to departing Japanese servicemen by women in their communities.
