LC-Lot 9431-16: Determined To Fight To the End, December 1941

LC-Lot 9431-16:  Determined To Fight To the End, December 1941.     These are some of the Filipino pilots pictured in the Philippines, who raised havoc in the ranks of the Japanese when the invades moved on from the Philippine Islands. Second to right is Captain Jesus A. Villamor, first Filipino to receive the Distinguished Service Cross for heroism.  The Distinguished Service Cross is the U.S. Army’s version of the Navy Cross.  Villamor received the award for his actions in December 1941.  The Philippines would fall in the spring of 1942 to the Japanese, and U.S. would not return until  October 1944.
