USN 708499: WAVES Return to Base, January 1952

USN 708499: “Return to Base”, January 1952. WAVES back on board the LSI for their return trip to the Naval Training Base at Newport, Rhode Island, the WAVE officers had a clear picture of how the ships of the fleet operate while at sea. Lieutenant Anne Ducey, Officer in Charge of the Visitors, and Ensigns Elizabeth A. Harris and Eva Schekorra watched the fog settle from their floating classrooms in the background. The WAVES felt more fully prepared for future class studies after “joining” the Fleet. Photograph released January 21, 1952. Official U.S. Navy photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.
