After Hurricane Hattie in late October and early November, helicopterss from USS Antietam (CVS-36) began relief operations for Belize, British Honduras, providing medical personnel, medical supplies, general supplies, and ater.

Previously, in September 1961, Anietam provided assistance to the Texas coast to provide supplies and medical assistance to the victims of Hurricane Carla.
