LC-Lot-805-11: Operation Husky, July-August 1943.  As the British fought their way to Sicily’s East Coast, July 1943.  A truck rolls off Royal Navy HMS LCT 420, ready to roll through the shallow water or the beach, during the Eighth’s Army’s initial landing on the Sicilian coast.  Note the hand-writing stenciling of 420.  She was later sunk on November 7, 1944, when she hit a mine in the English Channel.  Photograph released August 24, 1943.  Photographed through Mylar sleeve.
