LC-Lot-805-12: Operation Husky, July-August 1943. More than 2000 ships joined to speed the United Nations invasion of Sicily and many of them were American landing craft of all types. This picture of a convoy of LST (landing ship, tank) ships show the craft as they make their way across the Atlantic bound for North Africa. Photograph released July 13, 1943. Photographed through Mylar sleeve. U.S. Navy Photograph. Courtesy of the Library of Congress: Lot-805. (2015/10/30).
