26-G-2438: Normandy Invasion, German Prisoners, June 1944

26-G-2438: Normandy Invasion, German Prisoners, June 1944. Nazi Warriors Wash the Dishes. Under the watchful eye of a Coast Guardsman, a group of Nazi prisoners-of-war wash the dishes in the galley of a Coast Guard manned troop transport en-route to the United States. For them, the fighting is over and at least one of the former Teutonic warriors seems highly pleased with the situation. The Nazis were among the first shipment of several hundred, captured in France, who recently arrived at an undisclosed Atlantic port on board a Coast Guard transport, June 1944. U.S. Coast Guard Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives. (11/18/2014).
