26-G-2518:  Normandy Invasion, German Prisoners, June 1944.  Beribboned Nazi Officer Captured at St. Lo.   On board a Coast Guard manned LST, Nazi Lieutenant Colonel Hans Franz Muller, right, four-times decorated for his war exploits, talks with Coast Guard Ensign Axel B. Carlson as the German is transported across the English Channel for internment in England.  Muller was captured in the Battle of St. Lo.  He wears the Iron Cross and other medals and a ribbon for participation in the Russian Campaign, June 1944.   U.S. Coast Guard Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.
