80-G-490458:   Allied Prisoners of War, 1945.   Allied prisoners of war suffering from malnutrition and other disorders as seen after their rescue from the Omori camp, Tokyo area, by a U.S. Navy rescue mission headed by Commander Roger Simpson and Commander Harold Stassen.  Treatment of prisoners was described as inquisitional form of barbarism.  Shown is an Allied prisoner of war too emaciated to walk and is carried on board a small craft to be transported to a U.S. Navy hospital ship in Tokyo Bay, August 30, 1945.  Emergency medical and food supplies can be seen at the left.   Official U.S. Navy photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.  (2014/05/29).    The original is a small photograph.
