![80-G-62013: Mrs. Mary C. Wintle, Ship’s Sponsor of USS Wintle (DE 25), christening and launching the destroyer escort at Boston Navy Yard, Boston, Massachusetts, April 22, 1943. Wintle was named after Lieutenant Commander Jack W. Wintle who was killed on board USS San Francisco (CA 38) during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal in November 1942. He also received the Navy Cross.
