Description: This is the first page from Seaman First Class Robert Gill’s account of a kamikaze attack against the light carrier Cabot (CVL 28) on November 25, 1944. Written the day after the event while memories of his experience were fresh in his mind, the account begins with the call to General Quarters. From his gun mount, Gill could see the ‘big mass of fire’ produced by Cabot’s antiaircraft guns and watched a kamikaze’s fateful dive into the carrier Hancock (CV 19).
