cabotkamikazehit1
Description: he second page from Seaman First Class Robert Gill’s account of a kamikaze attack against the light carrier Cabot (CVL 28) on November 25, 1944, describes in detail a suicide plane hitting the ship. ‘We got the order to keep a look out forward [and] about that time there was a hell of an explosion. We tried to take cover from the falling parts of the plane. There was an awful amount of cuncshion [concussion] and our backs felt like they were on fire. After every thing was quite [quiet] we looked back towards guns 468 and there were nothing there.’ Gill and his fellow gunners did not have time to reflect soon they heard yelling that another plane was approaching.
