Bark OLIVE THURLOW
Title: Bark OLIVE THURLOW
Caption: 789 tons, built in Calais, Maine, and sailed around the world in 1883. Note from donor: "A Christmas card sent out by my late mother in the 1940's. The bark was 789 tons, and built in Calais, Maine, for my maternal grandfather, Captain Tristram Thurlow Corbett of Cutler, Maine, in whose memory the painting of the MARGARETTA was presented. My mother, Eugenie Abigail Corbett, was born on this ship in 1883 off Noumea, New Caledonia. The oil painting, which now hangs in my law offices, was executed by the famous French ship artist, Edouard Adams, in Le Havre, France, in 1880."
