Caption: Underway off the coast of southern California, after her conversion to a "Tuna boat" Q-ship, circa January 1942-May 1943, operating under commander, western sea frontier. Note prominent "bait tank" on the fantail, which housed a Curtiss SOC "Seagull" floating plane, and the prominent "Crow's nest," as well as the added bulwark forward at the bow.
