Sir:
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your communication of today with a copy of the Proclamation issued by the President of the United States declaring suspension of hostilities in accordance with the Protocol concluded and signed August I2, I898.1
I have already given the necessary orders towards withdrawing my troops from near neighborhood of the Spanish lines and I beg to inform you that there will be no occasion for any disturbance whatsoever.
I gratefully thank you for your offer to help us in any way and in case that we should need your valuable aid I shall readily notify you.
