Caption: Artifacts from USS Cumberland. Cumberland was rammed by CSS Virginia and sank on March 8, 1862. One hundred twenty-three Sailors lost their lives aboard Cumberland. The Hampton Roads Naval Museum is the official repository of USS Cumberland artifacts.

Check it out! As you explore the area, take a stroll through Town Point Park and check out the Armed Forces Memorial, which is to your right as you exit the building. From this point, you can look across the Elizabeth River and see Portsmouth Naval Hospital, the oldest permanent Navy hospital in the United States. The Battleship USS Wisconsin (BB 64) is next to Nauticus. Make sure you stop at Wisconsin Square to see the Lone Sailor statue as well.
