26-G-1978: Operation Avalanche, September 1943. Mercy Accompanies Invasions. Following the invasion lines, mercy machines are lowered from a Coast Guard manned transport into an invasion craft for transportation to shore. Coast Guardsmen handle the machines as carefully as if they already contained wounded.
