NMUSN-5304:  3 Pounder Mark 15 Slide Gun, 2023.   This artifact was relocated within the World War I display area at the National Museum of the U.S. Navy and is now at the  Naval History and Heritage Command’s Curator Branch, Collection Management Facility, at Richmond, Virginia.  This photo shows it being moved for packing and shipment from a storage area within Building 76.   National Museum of the U.S. Navy Photograph Collection.

 

The Navy selected this gun as the main armament on its 66-foot anti-submarine patrol boats during World War I.   This artifact was originally located in the Weapons Section of Bldg. 76 until relocated for display in the World War I exhibit area.    Transferred to the Naval History and Heritage Command’s Curator Branch, Collection Management Facility, at Richmond, Virginia, it will be cared for by the on-site staff as a rest period for the object.
