Nicaragua Log

nicaragualog
Description: Pages from the Aviator’s Flight Log Book of Gunnery Sergeant Albert S. Munsch documenting flights made in TA-1 transport aircraft in Nicaragua during June 1928. One of the names that appear often is Ocotal, which was an embattled town during Marine operations in Nicaragua. In January 1928, Munsch was part of a flight of aircraft that inflicted casualties on bandits under General Augusto Sandino and drove them from the town. For this action and for logging 827 flight hours over rough, mountainous terrain, Munsch received the Distinguished Flying Cross.
