Description: During their service at Al Taqaddum Air Base in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Marine Corps helicopter crews constructed a gazebo where personnel could relax between flights. As squadrons rotated into and out of the base, their members began a tradition of carving their respective insignias into the planks that formed the floor of the gazebo. Before the last Marine aviation units departed Al Taquaddum, the planks were packed up and sent to the museum for display.
