Refueling at sea is one of the most exciting things that can happen in the normal course of a ship’s activity. It combines much-needed resupply with the flurry of movement, sound and danger, as two giant ships travel at a fast pace within yards of each other! The sight of these sailors waiting to spring into action, with the light almost silhouetting them against the bulkhead, moved me to depict the scene.
