Title: Attack on German Submarine U-758
Description: 11 January 1944 Delivered in position 41-46N, 20-53W by planes from USS Block Island (CVE-21). This photo shows the exhaust flares of two rockets approaching the submarine. This rocket attack was made by Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Willis D. Seely in TBF # 1. It was followed by depth bomb attacks by his and other planes. U-758 was damaged in these attacks, but not sunk. Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.
