Title: Normandy Invasion, June 1944
Description: Navy Beach Battalion members dive for cover during a German strafing attack against the Normandy beachhead. Photograph was released on 20 June 1944. It was taken by Combat Photo Unit Eight (CPU-8). Note the concrete seawall at left, and the horned skullies removed from boat lanes, where they had been placed by the Germans to obstruct access to the beach. Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.
