Caption: Photographed on 21 October 1944, during the Leyte Invasion. The continuing failure of attempts to make this field operational, following its capture, was one of the serious problems of the Leyte Campaign, since it delayed the introduction of significant land based air support for the troops. The swampy terrain of the field is quite apparent in this photograph.
