Caption: Fly in formation over Alaska mountains, during the Navy Interior Department photo mapping project, Summer 1948. This photo was taken over the south end of Mount Fairweather Range, with Brady Ice Field in background. The project covered the Alaska Panhandle, from Skagway to the south, to determine waterpower and pulpwood potential of the region. The planes were based at Annett Island, near Ketchikan.
