Description: (American Motor Boat, 1909) Photographed prior to her World War I era Naval service. This pleasure craft was built in 1909 by J.M. Bayles & Son of Port Jefferson, Long Island, New York. Owned by Colonel William Hester of Brooklyn, New York, she was taken over by the Navy on 2 May 1917 and placed in commission on 10 September 1917 as USS Eagle (SP-145). Renamed SP-145 in 1918, she was stricken from the list of Naval vessels on 11 March 1919 and sold on 25 June 1919. The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.
