Title: Whirlwind
Description: (American Motor Yacht, 1909) Underway prior to her World War I era Naval service. This pleasure craft was acquired by the Navy on 11 May 1917 and commissioned on 26 June 1917 as USS Whirlwind (SP-221). She was stricken from the Navy list on 24 April 1919 and sold on 30 June 1919. The original photograph is in Record Group 19-LCM in the National Archives. U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command Photograph.
