Description: USS Chicago (1889-1936, later CA-14) Neptune certificate issued to Seaman Philip Andrew Casey on the occasion of his crossing the Equator while en route from the United States to Chile on board USS Chicago, 1 December 1904. The small image in the top center of the certificate is a halftone reproduction of a photograph of Chicago. The ship's official Department of the Navy seal is applied to the lower left of the certificate. Collection of BMC Philip A. Carey, donated by his widow, Mrs. Omah (Munier) Swanson, 1969.
