Description: (AR-12) At Mayport, Florida to conduct repairs to USS Lake Champlain (CVA-39). The original photo caption states: Without fanfare or advance heralding, the Briareus, commanded by Capt. J.E. Watts, steamed into Mayport, effected much-needed repairs and replacements to the combat-worn Champ, and then, task completed, pointed her bow homeward to Norfolk.
