Title: SPINDRIFT
Caption: From a watercolor by J. Taylor, 1867. Tea clipper; built in 1867. She had a great spread of canvas and was nicknamed the "Goblet Pie"- all legs and wings. The winner of the annual Tea Race in 68', and was second to "Sir Lancelot" the following year in a field of twenty-two. When outward bound the end of that season she was lost through carelessness on Dungeness, an event that caused her owner to become demented.
